PID Loop Fundamentals and How They Apply to PID Tuning in WebCTRL
Proper tuning of control loops is essential to the proper operation of mechanical systems. It is important that loops are reviewed periodically for proper operation since the original setup values from construction may not be ideal for the same system during all seasons or all types of operating conditions. Proportional/Integral/Derivative (PID) loops that are out of calibration can result in discomfort, inefficiency, and even equipment damage. This class will provide an overview of PID control in HVAC as well as some rules of thumb for PID loop adjustment. It will also look at how PID control is handled in WebCTRL and how you can check and adjust your PID values if necessary to optimize the operation of a control loop.
